LAMINATION

Lamination adds a layer of protective coating (normally a type of plastic), either glossy or matte, to the surface of your printed piece while also improving its sturdiness and water resistance.   Lamination also has the added benefit of improving the tactile feel of the printed surface by giving it a smooth finish.

A high gloss laminate applied to a printed surface will cause photos and images to have improved sharpness and contrast, while a matte laminate will enhance the piece with a very luxurious and elegant finish to the printed surface.

While lamination tends to be one of the more expensive print finishes, it allows you to go high-end with your direct mail pieces that will use the sense of touch to separate your piece from all the others. In addition, most lamination comes with UV inhibitors to help protect your image from ultraviolet light and discoloring.
