Now the industry standard, CTP (Computer-To-Plate) has several advantages over conventional platemaking. In CTP, the transfer of film images to the printing plate is removed from the printing process, eliminating the need for film and related developer chemicals. CTP avoids potential losses in quality that may occur during film processing, including scratches in the film, and variations in the exposure. CTP Plates are produced in less time and are more consistent from plate to plate.

Because CTP utilizes digital files containing all necessary data, jobs are easier to store, ship, handle, transfer, and copy. The crisp dot structure of CTP creates plates are sharper, yielding better ink coverage and cleaner images. CTP systems can significantly increase plate production output as defects due to dust, scratches are virtually eliminated. CTP technology also enables adjustments during the plate making process to compensate for dot gain, paper surface and color gamut.

By printing from dynamic files rather than static film, the CTP digital workflow allows copy changes without plate waste. We exclusively use plates from FujiFilm for their superb consistency, reliability and long press life. From the initial printing through the 1,000th printing, on both offset and digital equipment, CTP output is always first generation, delivering high quality on every reprint.
