What apps, software, or tools can’t you live without?
I couldn’t live without my email and WhatsApp. The email for obvious reasons, since I live in an area that doesn’t get great cell-phone reception, email is a necessity. WhatsApp allows me to have group conversations and make calls for free with my brother and his family in Hong Kong, SAR. Since family is extremely important to me, these are things I couldn’t live without.
What’s your workspace setup like?
In the Wide Format Department, everything is open concept. My boss and co-worker have their desks on the other side of the department, so I am pretty much surrounded by printers, our cutter, and our laminator. I have a PC for email and general paperwork, but I also have an iMac that I use for basically everything else.
What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life hack?
My greatest life hack is my ability to preemptively get things ready for the morning the night before. This way I’m not as rushed on the mornings when I over sleep.
What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else?
As far as everyday things, I’m very good at doing dishes in the most efficient and cost saving way. I’m very water conscious, and thus pretty OCD about how the dishes are cleaned and put in the dishwasher.
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, but I also have The Wicked Years series by Gregory Maguire in my cue.
Do you use an e-reader or do you prefer paper books?
I don’t like e-readers. I have always liked the feeling of physically turning the pages of a book, somehow it feels like an accomplishment.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
My grandfather told me something years ago that I’ll never forget. “If you don’t like someone, just walk a mile in their shoes; at that point you will be a mile away from them AND have their shoes.” For me this quote holds a few different truths. First, you need to find the humor in any situation you find yourself in. Second, sometimes it is better to simply leave a situation rather than trying to fight and argue your side. Finally, you need to have some understanding for other people and the things they might be going through.
How do you recharge?
Whether it’s playing golf or going for 26 mile hikes with my dogs in the summer months, or snowshoeing and skiing during the winter, it’s a safe bet that you can find me outdoors enjoying nature.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you have and why?
LeatherMan MultiTool: Has a variety of tools that would be very useful in an emergency situation like this.
Magnifying Glass: Assuming that this island gets a fair amount of sunlight, a magnifying glass provides you the ability to make an unlimited number of fires for cooking, warmth and protection.
Bottle of Vodka: This is a great way to disinfect a wound and prevent infection.
What’s one thing that many people don’t know about you?
I have lived on 3 continents, and visited over 22 countries. Hopefully that number will continue to increase!
