Saddle stitch, bleed, ligature… sounds like the beginnings of a complex medical procedure, doesn’t it? That’s what I thought too in my first couple of weeks as a new employee at R.C. Brayshaw & Company. I quickly learned that all three represent important printer terminology and that I should expect to hear a lot more of this strange jargon thrown around the office. Suffice it to say, I felt a little intimidated. Like many people in my generation, my entire life has been focused on digital developments. My education, my career and my personal life have all been extremely immersed in technology and digitizing the world. So what on earth was I thinking, taking a job in the printing industry? Well, R.C. Brayshaw & Company is no ordinary printing company, in fact, they are so much more than that…
To give you some context, I was hired to be an Integrated Marketing Project Manager, which in essence means that I am responsible for managing client marketing projects that integrate many, to all of R.C. Brayshaw & Company’s services and departments. So you can just imagine how valuable it was for me to be given the opportunity to receive in-depth tours of our West Lebanon and Warner facilities.
It was on these tours that I learned just how detail-oriented, passionate and hard-working my new co-workers really are. I witnessed how methodical and vigilant our graphic designers are when they prepare our client’s designs for the presses. I was privileged to see our pressmen’s master craftsmanship on our state of the art Heidelberg equipment. I learned why our Finishing Department has their own building – with their finishing capabilities ranging from multiple folding styles and stitching (including the mysterious saddle stitch), to embossing, die cutting, and foil stamping. I was amazed by our Wide Format Department when I learned that we can print on almost anything, almost any size, on a wide variety of materials. I discovered we have a plethora of options for customized promotional items, in addition to systems that streamline the duplication of CD’s and DVD’s.
I began to wonder if there were any services R.C. Brayshaw & Company didn’t offer!
So you’re probably still asking yourself, why on earth did a “digital girl”take a job at a printing company? Well, the answer is simple; it is because of how advanced our Integrated Marketing Department is. In addition to R.C. Brayshaw’s vast array of both traditional and innovative print services, we also offer our customers cutting-edge digital marketing strategies. We take the best from both the printing and digital worlds to develop effective marketing strategies and successful campaigns for our clients. Our Integrated Marketing department combines multiple channels of the digital world like social media, QR codes, email, and mass media with integrated print marketing materials that create successful multi-touch campaigns. These marketing promotions provide our clients with increased brand recognition, valuable information on their customer’s buying habits and interests, new sales opportunities, and perhaps most important of all, a positive return on their marketing investments.
So, to call R.C. Brayshaw & Company a “printing company” is far from accurate. As a true “marketing solutions provider”, they have become a one-stop shop for all of their client’s marketing and printing needs. Rather than withdraw from the digital age, R.C. Brayshaw & Company has constantly moved forward and embraced the best parts in order to create unsurpassed marketing solutions for their customers. Whether it is our consultants and customer service representatives taking the time to really understand our client’s needs, our pre-press technician’s unsurpassed attention to detail, or our pressmen’s pride in their craftsmanship, R.C. Brayshaw & Company’s focus on providing positive results for their clients has set themselves above their competitors.
